This History: Public History degree option within the history and social science majors is designed particularly for students interested in working for historic sites, museums, and archives. It is intended to provide students with practical experience for the public history profession. The experience they gain through the public history course and the internships will help them to decide if public history is a good career for them. They will also gain valuable experience that will help them to gain employment and/or gain admission to the highly competitive graduate programs in archives and public history. This program will also help Athens State University to forge stronger ties to its local communities and the region.
