Athens State University Community Band Spring Concert

The Athens State University Community Band, a collaboration of musicians from the local community and the campus community, will perform in McCandless Hall for this special concert.

This event is FREE and open to the public! Registration is required due to limited seating.

The Community Band performs throughout the year at various community and University events, including Veterans Day, Flag Day, Constitution Day, and others, and hosts an annual Christmas Concert and Spring Concert.

The Band was originally started by Dan Havely, the retired director of the nationally-renowned Athens High School “Golden Eagle” Band. He led the Community Band from 2003-16. Former directors include Roy Adams (2016-17), Steven Porter (2018-20), and Tim Clinton (2021-present).

The group rehearses in McCandless Hall on the Athens State University campus at 7:00 PM most Monday nights throughout the year. If you are interested in joining the Band, please contact Tim Clinton.

The Community Band enriches the lives of those who live in Athens and Limestone County, and Athens State University is proud to contribute in this effort.
