February Deadline

February 15: Huntsville Chapter of American Society of Women Accountants
The Huntsville chapter of American Society of Women Accountants is honored to present a scholarship opportunity for ambitious women attending accredited colleges and universities who are pursuing a degree in Accounting and have a minimum of 60 semester or 90 quarter hours. Deadline for submitting applications for the 2014-2015 academic year is February 15, 2014. Applications are available at the site listed below or in the Financial Aid Office.

February 28: Education-Portal.com Scholarships
The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is offering up to $25,000 per year for 100 first-time freshman or existing college students, renewable up to four years and one additional year for those entering a qualified five-year engineering program.

April Deadline

April 1: Degree Directory.org Scholarships
Scholarships are available to students earning an associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in the specified scholarships. Unique scholarships are available to students earning a degree online.

April 1: AICPA Scholarships
The AICPA offers three scholarship programs ranging in value from $2,500 to $5,000 and given to 100 full-time accounting students:

  • AICPA John L. Carey Scholarship
  • AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship
  • AICPA Scholarships for Minority Accounting Students
Applications will be accepted until April 1, 2013.

April 15: Elk Springs Resort Scholarship
Elk Springs Resort has recently announced a new annual scholarship that is available to all undergraduate students. We believe in encouraging young adults to follow their dreams and we feel that education is one route that can help many students accomplish their goals and achieve great success. As such, we have a new scholarship available.

This scholarship is merit based and requires that an essay be submitted for the opportunity to be awarded $1,500.

April 15: USLeaseOption.com Scholarship
USLeaseOption.com is proud to announce its first scholarship helping one promising student entrepreneur help pay for his or her higher education. This scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance and recognition to as qualified minority student entrepreneurs who have started, plan to start, or are interested in starting a business while enrolled in college.

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must reside in Alabama or Northwest Florida (see documents for definition of "Northwest Florida"), have been accepted for entrance by a recognized private medical school, and be pursuing a degree in pre-medicine.

May 31: Women�s Economic Development Council Scholarship
Our scholarship program is unique. Scholars receive financial assistance to use for tuition and books, or other activities that enable them to stay in school such as childcare or transportation. Following an application, interview and selection process, scholarships are awarded each spring to new and returning scholars for use in the upcoming school year, and amounts vary per scholar.

$2,500 scholarship to students interested in business leadership and/or entrepreneurship.

June 1: Giva Scholarship
Giva, Inc., a technology company located in Silicon Valley, is excited to offer its semi-annual $1000 scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY
All students, regardless of major, currently attending a college or university degree program either full or part-time are eligible and encouraged to apply. The award is designated for school tuition.

REQUIREMENTS
All eligible students will be required to compose a thoughtful essay between 500 – 1,000 words answering the question:
“How will you use your talents and education to make the world a better place for future generations? What are your career and personal goals and why?”
Award winners are required to perform some community service volunteer work.

ESSAY SUBMISSION DEADLINE: June 1 or December 1 of each year

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD DATE: By August 15 and February 15 of each year

Students may only apply once in any 12-month period.

August 1: Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship Award
Thermo Fisher Scientific is offering our future science scholars an opportunity to win $10,000 in scholarship funding for the 2014-2015 Fall semester. This scholarship was created to help provide educational opportunities for the future generation of scientists. Graduate students or undergraduate students must be enrolled in an accredited college for the 2014-2015 Fall semester to qualify for this scholarship. A pre-selected committee will award two $10,000 scholarships and four $5,000 scholarships among the candidates.

Other Scholarships

The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarships
The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student's merit and grades, not financial need. Army ROTC scholarships consist of:

  • Two, three, and four-year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree
  • Full-tuition scholarships
  • The option for room and board in place of tuition, if you should qualify
  • Additional allowances for books and fees
  • Living expenses of up to $500 per month during the school year

Athens State University students can enroll in the ROTC program through a visiting student agreement with Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, located just north of Huntsville, Alabama. This agreement allows interested students to earn a commission in the Army upon completion of pre-commissioning training requirements and receipt of their degree.
