A licensed professional counselor is available by appointment to discuss personal, or developmental issues with currently enrolled students and Athens State University faculty and staff, on a brief-counseling basis. You may face difficult times while attending college. A counselor is available to help you deal with stress management, time management, study skills, test anxiety, mixed or overwhelmed feelings about returning to school, personal relationships, or personal loss. Referral to agencies or private practitioners within the community for long-term counseling is occasionally recommended, depending upon the nature of the concern. All counseling services are provided with your confidentiality in mind and offered at no charge to you.

Lisa Philippart, LPC, is available for personal counseling services on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and can be contacted during that time at 256-233-8144 , to set up an appointment. Services are provided through a partnership with the Mental Health Center of North Central Alabama.
