Basic Cake Decorating

Learn the basics of simple cake decorating and how to make the perfect buttercream icing. Tammy Wilkinson will guide you in the steps to decorating cakes. Class is open to ages 11 and up. Students will take home a simple cake. Supplies included in the fee.

Basic Blacksmithing
Nov 1, 2014
Our instructors will guide you through the basic blacksmithing techniques of forging metal using tools to hammer, bend, and cut. Students will learn basic safety, fire instruction, tapering, bending, twisting, spreading, rolling, hole-punching, and riveting. At the end of class, students will take home a 4-hook rack. No previous experience is required. All tools and equipment are provided.

Blacksmith activities can be inherently dangerous due to hot metal, sparks, sharp objects, welding and grinding operations, as well as other activities. It is recommended that students use safety glasses, wear cotton long sleeve shirts, long pants, and leather high top boots. Students will need to bring leather gloves to class.

The Center hosts both beginner and intermediate classes in Ballroom and Swing dance styles. Here is a chance to learn the basics without the pressure of people watching your every move. Even if you only want lessons for exercise, this is a great way to get your body moving. Each session meets four time.

Pottery: An Introduction to Wheel Throwing

This course will look at the life of Paul from convert to apostle. This part of our study will focus on Paul's life, calling and travels as a missionary. The book of Acts will serve as the primary source for this study.

This first project will provide you with the skills and tools you will need for more advanced projects. In this class, Travis Fleming and Al Stephens will guide you in the steps to make tongs or candlesticks. All tools and equipment are provided. Prerequisite: Basic Blacksmithing.

Sewing Using a Pattern

Bring your sewing machine and learn to use a pattern. You will learn about your sewing machine. We will take you step by step in adjusting and cutting out a pattern as well as through the sewing process. No prior experience needed - bring your own sewing machine and supplies.

Supply List Basic sewing supplies such as extra needles, pins and scissors; thread to match fabric

Pajama pattern such as http://www.simplicity.com/t-sewing-101-part4.aspx Which is a free pattern but must be printed and taped together

OR any easy pj pattern. Look for one with an elastic waist

The back of the pattern will tell the amount of fabric to buy.
